The new Tennessee Titans stadium was created to expand the amount and variety of events the stadium will be able to host. Alongside being the home of the N.F.L.’s Titans, The stadium will also serve as a venue for various other sporting, entertainment, and civic functions. The 1.7-million square feet, 60,000-seat, totally enclosed facility will be constructed on the east end of the stadium’s existing campus.
The urban setting in Nashville influences the design and is envisioned to complement the overall East Bank development plan spearheaded by the city. The building features a circular roof with a translucent structure and exterior porches with breathtaking views of Nashville and improved view lines for all visitors with an array of seating options and the community space of 12,000 square feet accessible all year. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to start around the middle of 2024, with a planned opening in 2027.
The Titans recently announced that Tennessee Builders Alliance (T.B.A.) will act as the Contractor Manager for Risk. T.B.A. comprises Nashville’s I.C.F. Builders, Brentwood-based Polk & Associates, Turner Construction Company, and AECOM Hunt. Together, the team boasts an average of 55 years of N.F.L. building stadium experience. Turner and AECOM Hunt have been involved in 17 of the last 30 completed N.F.L. stadium projects.
“T.B.A. recognizes that we are building more than a stadium,” said John Gromos, principal-in-charge of the Tennessee Builders Alliance. “We are also building a brighter future for diverse members of our community and strengthening the Middle Tennessee economy for everyone.”
According to the stadium agreement for development with the city, The Titans directed the procurement process to select companies overseeing the design and construction. By Nashville metro government’s procurement policies and procedures, representatives from Metro Nashville and Metropolitan Sports Authority assisted the Titans in the selection process for construction managers.
According to the T.B.A. announcement, participation in diverse businesses and minority-owned contracting are significant issues for the project’s team. T.B.A. has committed to exceeding and meeting participation targets established in the Business Assistance Office and cooperating with a diversity report consultant who will submit monthly reports to Metropolitan Sports Authority regarding minority subcontractor and contractor participation.

The construction sector in the U.S. grew by 0.1 percent in July, as per data from an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of the data released from the U.S. Census Bureau. On an annualized, seasonally adjusted basis, nonresidential expenditure totaled $1.08 trillion, an increase of 16.5 percent over the previous year.
Spending increased monthly for eight of the 16 subcategories for nonresidential. The private nonresidential sector’s spending increased by 0.5 percent, while construction spending in the public sector decreased by 0.4 percent in July.
“After today’s jobs report, which indicated that nonresidential construction added an outsized number of jobs in August, one would have expected a strong construction spending growth as well,” said A.B.C. Chief Economist Anirban Basu. “Alas, the economic numbers, as well as the economy, remain filled with surprise. For July, construction spending for nonresidents only grew. When one adjusts to inflation, the expenditure falls in real terms.
