These wall slabs offer the following advantages:

  • Partition walls can be used as structural elements in place of columns to reduce the cost of construction.
  • This wall type allows for greater headroom as the space required for beams does not need to be included.
  • Core walls can maintain good lateral movement in both directions.
  • The flat soffit on slabs reduces concrete spalling and, therefore, requires less maintenance.
  • There is no need for beam strength to be reduced as beams will not be used.
  • Maintenance costs are lower.
  • The wall slabs are perfect for irregular grids, structural shapes, and even irregular grids.

Wall Slab vs Ribbed Slab, Waffle Slab

Wall Slabs vs Flat Slab

  • The wall slabs can be adapted to accommodate more slab openings, for example, for the installation of services or floor-to-floor spaces.
  • The wall slabs are the thinnest and best suited for ceilings with large voids.
  • It has a greater lateral wind resistance because of its hard walls.
  • Columns are inferior in terms of sound and vibration isolation compared to walls.
  • The heavy reinforcement required for flat slabs can increase material costs and complicate the placement of support.

Wall Slabs vs. Beam Slab

  • The wall slabs allow for more headroom, as no beams are required.
  • The rigidity of the wall slabs provides greater resistance to lateral winds.
  • It is cheaper to use partition walls as structural components.
  • To reduce construction time, wall slabs use standardized formworks.
  • Beam Slabs can have a lower beam strength due to penetrations in the downstand beams used for service installations and clashes that may occur during reinforcement placements.
  • Construction becomes more complicated and time-consuming due to the beams of the Beam Slab Structure, as it requires more design work and a workforce.

Normally, the sides of an elevator car for passengers are made from steel sheets and are trimmed on the interior with elegant paneling. The car’s floor is available in either tiled or carpeted versions. The interior trim and handrails are made of stainless steel to resist abrasion and display. The suspended ceiling usually consists of fluorescent lighting on plastic diffuser panels. Behind panels in front of the car and adjacent to the doors are the elevator controls, emergency phone, and alarm buttons.

Steel guide rollers are attached to the top and bottom sides of the sling to remove the guide rails. The guide rails, made of steel, are attached to the walls of the elevator shaft from top to bottom. The emergency brake system has two clamping faces that are pressed together by a wedge in order to encourage the guide rail. The wedge is operated by a screw that is moved by a roller stuck to the emergency cable.
