The high-speed railway project in Great Britain is expected to generate another PS1bn for British businesses.
Over 3,200 companies have already signed up as procurement and sourcing agents for the construction of HS2, Britain’s new railway. HS2 published the details of 300 work packages that its construction partners are procuring in the next 18 months to increase the chances of local firms gaining a share of work.
The completion of the 140-mile HS2 Network, with four new stations, two depots, and other infrastructure between London and Birmingham, is no easy task. It requires the expertise and experience of companies and suppliers around the globe. UK companies have already secured more than PS17bn in work for HS2, and the year 2024 will bring even more opportunities.
Contracts worth PS1bn
The contract opportunities worth more than PS1bn provide opportunities for potential suppliers to grow their order book and increase their business.
The supply chain lead at HS2 said: “Forecasting is essential for business. We’ve worked with our stations and civil contractor to develop a simple pipeline of procurement that outlines what we will need and when.”
