The initial response could be something similar to the following:
“… it’s not big enough for the family we have.”
“…the Layout isn’t functioning.”
“…the Style does not match to the other areas of our website.”
Whatever your initial reaction, look more deeply and ask, “How is this problem impacting me and my family?”
There’s a possibility that something is happening in the area that’s causing tension, stress, or fatigue. Focusing on the problem factors and how they impact you will allow you to make design choices with confidence and clarity.
- Not Considering User Routines & Habits
It is crucial to know who will use the kitchen, when they’ll use it, and what they’ll do there. In addition to revealing the flow of traffic and the need for clearance between the various elements of your home, it will also affect the different aspects of design choices.
Do you have a family tradition of putting dishes in the dishwasher, or do they build up in the sink throughout the day? If this is the case, sink in the island, where it’s the most visible choice.
Do you have family members who enjoy eating or work at the kitchen island when you’re cooking meals? It may be time to add an area with comfortable stools to make space on the island.

Cabinets are probably the costliest part of kitchen remodeling, followed by appliances only. Going with low-end cabinets is tempting because saving money is worth it. However, in the end, homeowners often wish they had upgraded their cabinets rather than resizing them.
Cabinets and how they’re arranged to store things affect everything you make at home. They’re frequently and heavily used, and your quality design and construction will quickly be evident.

- Not Giving Enough Thought to Lighting

However, the kitchens we love also feature under-cabinet lighting, which can help reduce shadows from overhead lights and create a soft, low-light effect in the evening. The soft, calming light is perfect for evenings when the family is relaxing. However, they still move around the kitchen to enjoy snacks or drinks.
The lighting fixtures you use for decorative purposes in kitchens should be addressed. Still, a good pendant light or sconce could be the perfect finish to transform your kitchen from simple and elegant to chic and stimulating.
